Have yous tried canned o compressed air to blow out the dust? If you manage to make clean the dust out of the shoulder buttons, not carry your 3ds in the pockets anymore.
Like I said... I used and so far a really difficult blow from my lips, if it was just "dust" how is it possible information technology stops working again after a few minutes/hours of it existence in my backpack/pocket? Surely not enough dust could build upwards in that amount of time to make information technology unresponsive once more...

Your mouth and lips will never match the air pressure strength of a canned grit sprayer concentrated to a two mm bore harbinger. Dust contamination tin can crud upward betwixt a push button's contact patches and end signalling your presses. At best, your non-responsive button outcome can be fixed with canned air. At worst, you killed your shoulder buttons by shorting them.
You offset with the well-nigh simplistic repair diagnostics. If canned air tin't fix the problem, yous get with the next best repair solution through disassembly. And lastly, if that still doesn't piece of work, you learned the of import and expensive lesson that lint is an electronic killer. Thanks for sharing this so that others can avoid making the same fault in mishandling their 3DS.

The one you linked isn't reputable. Nice electronic blowers will cost U.s.$50 and up.
I doubtfulness you'll demand this exterior of fixing the 3DS for one time use. Canned air makes more sense.
In instance you later choice up electronic repairs as your line of piece of work or get a heavy keyboardist, go for this one if information technology outweighs the financial and logistics of continual usage of canned air.

In case you lot become one anyway for permit's say LCD screen repair, exist aware that blowers do non work for dust-gratuitous installation. People wrongly mistaken that you can blow grit out of the exterior glass encompass and LCD panel. Blowing introduces more grit betwixt the spaces. What you need instead is a miniature vacuum to suck dust and lint out.

the back is very easy to open upward and get to the r push button. I suggest opening up the 3ds and dismantling the r button and cleaning it out from there. You don't need to mess with any ribbon cables to do this. The one you linked isn't reputable. What is considered easy to i person volition not be same for another. You got to business relationship for the fact that anytime you open up up the 3DS or any electronic, you expose delicate components to very real and possible risk of damage. Even by the to the lowest degree haphazard slim chance, accidents happen. Why get for more circuitous repairs if he hasn't exhausted his safer pick?the dorsum is very easy to open up and get to the r button. I advise opening upwardly the 3ds and dismantling the r button and cleaning it out from there. You lot don't need to mess with any ribbon cables to practise this.
If OP tin get away with canned air, that would exist great in avoiding all that baloney doing the electronic equivalent of open middle surgery to a nontechnically inclined.

I tin can agree that it can be difficult to do stuff the first time - but I have opened up a lot of 3DSs and I tin can tell y'all removing that dorsum panel is very piece of cake. Now if he had to mess with flex cables I would not advise it, only he doesn't.What is considered easy to one person will not exist aforementioned for another. Yous got to account for the fact that someday you open the 3DS or whatsoever electronic, you betrayal frail components to very real and possible gamble of damage. Fifty-fifty by the least haphazard slim hazard, accidents happen. Why get for more complex repairs if he hasn't exhausted his safer option? If OP tin get abroad with canned air, that would be not bad in avoiding all that baloney doing the electronic equivalent of open up heart surgery to a nontechnically inclined.
My advice would exist to watch a shoulder button repair video and run into if information technology looks doable.

there is an electronic cleaner spray , with a straw ...
Adding to ane more than condom precaution tip, @GM Otomon. Exist advised not to spray this can at an angle that is non upright. Remove the battery and permit the 3DS discharge before dusting. The canned air comes in liquidized form, so it'southward possible to moisture the electronics inside the 3DS in case y'all shoot bits of liduid. If this happens, let the 3DS dry off. The removed battery is to prevent shorting the entire motherboard.
Use the harbinger (they should come with straw). Spray air at brusk bursts. If the can gets too cold due to temperature drop every bit pressure drop (your ideal gas police force at work PV=nRT), let the can warm upward. In fact, if y'all're making it go that cold that icicles class on the can itself, you're spraying as well much too fast. Although rare, there'south a possibility of getting frost bite if yous become crazy using these then... accident moderately.

I tin can agree that it tin can be hard to do stuff the outset time - merely I have opened up a lot of 3DSs and I can tell you lot removing that back panel is very easy. Now if he had to mess with flex cables I would not advise it, but he doesn't.My communication would be to lookout a shoulder button repair video and meet if it looks doable.
I've learned one affair most people when information technology comes to repairing stuff over the years (computers, cars, and household appliances). Never beginning assume or trust your customer knows how to use a screwdriver or a wrench unless proven otherwise.
Another communication to share, never trust a motorcar mechanic who will not explicate what he or she is doing to your car in a level of language y'all can sympathize.
